Fibroblast Plasma

Plasma Skin Tightening is a non-surgical cosmetic enhancement designed to shrink the skin using a sterile, disposable probe.

Fibroblasts are the collagen producing cells in the skin. Fibroblast treatment is performed with a device called a plasma pen, which is used to produce plasma waves. The waves are directed as tiny light spots along the wrinkle lines. The tip of the pen never touches the skin (and the needle like attachment is a sterile, disposable, one-time use product).

The FDA approved Plamere Pen is held 1mm above the skin and a tiny plasma arc connects the tip of the device to the surface of the skin. Using plasma waves, the old collagen is removed by sublimation (evaporation), and Fibroblasts are stimulated to produce new collagen. The targeted skin contracts and is essentially eliminated without any cutting, which results in the tightening and shrinking of the targeted skin.

This advanced procedure helps to revive natural levels of collagen, hyaluronic acid and fibronectin needed for fresh youthful skin. A series of tiny brown spots are strategically placed to attain the desired result. The skin around the dot tightens instantly, pulling the cells closer together.

Results are almost immediate with visible tightening. Improvements continue for the next three months with continued tightening and improvements in wrinkles. In some cases, more than one session may be desired for further improvements. Results typically last between 3 and 5 years.

Candidates for treatment are patients with Fitzpatrick skin types I, II, III. Patients with Fitzpatrick skin types IV, V, and VI are at increased risk for pigmentary changes from the treatment and are not good candidates. (please link to photo of scale.

Fibroblast Plasma FAQs

Plasma (also known as Fibroblast Plasma) delivers the only professional treatment which does not involve a laser or scalpel to remove excess skin – instead it uses the power of plasma to tighten and rejuvenate.

Also known as “Fibroblasting” this non-surgical procedure is highly effective in smoothing wrinkles, tightening skin and plumping lines.

The micro trauma caused by Plasma stimulates Fibroblasts, (Fibroblasts are the most common cells of connective tissue in the body) existing collagen and elastin. It promotes the production of new skin cells which will help to strengthen, plump and tighten the skin. The procedure is based on the natural stimulation of skin regeneration. New cell production continues for several weeks after a session. This helps to refine fine lines and wrinkles and improve the overall complexion of the skin.

Plasma is a non-invasive procedure with a minimal level of pain or discomfort. To ensure your comfort a local anaesthetic cream can be applied before commencing the procedure.

First, the topical anaesthetic (cream) is applied, minimizing the risk of pain and numbing the treated area. The duration of the treatment varies depending on the treated area. Upper, Mid and Lower Facial areas 60-120 minutes, other facial and body areas 2-4 hours.

There is no special pre-treatment required. It is advised that you do not apply any cosmetic products on the area to be treated (especially those containing alcohol).

With the help of Plasma treatment, it is possible to treat various skin problems, achieve the “lifting effects” of the loose skin, treat hooded eyelids, wrinkles and lines, sagging skin and much more. If you suffer from any of the above and do not want to go through a traditional surgical procedure, Plasma is the right solution for you.

If you have any other areas of concern, please feel free to book a free consultation appointment to discuss.

The treatment is very safe, as it is a non-surgical procedure. It has a negligible amount of possible side effects and complications alike. The procedure is based on the natural stimulation of skin regeneration, so the excesses which may be seen in the world of traditional surgery are not possible. The Plasma treatment takes a very short time. Aftercare is stressed to the client because if the client neglects the aftercare the treated area may suffer from: inflammation, hyper-pigmentation or scarring.

The Plasma treatment is an exceptionally safe procedure and it rare that any side effects occur. The possible side effects if they occur are inflammation, scarring or minor change in skin pigmentation all of which are very rare.

It is highly important for each client to closely follow the aftercare instructions. Crusts which occur after the treatment are part of the treatment and will fall off after 4–5 days. Minor swelling after treating the area around the eyes is normal and will disappear after 3–5 days, depending on the client’s sensitivity.

Clients can expect some visible tightening immediately after their treatment, but the final result will only be fully visible after 4-8 weeks when the skin enters the third phase of healing – collagen and connective tissue growth as new cell production continues for several weeks after a session.

As with most non-surgical treatments, the extent of the result varies from person to person. The number of treatments required will depend on client’s goals, their skin, its age and the area being treated.

The client is often satisfied after only one treatment, of course if, e.g. the wrinkles are not very deep, but due to the simplicity of the procedure some clients opt for two or even three treatments to achieve a perfect result. The procedure may be repeated after the skin is fully regenerated 6–12 weeks after the procedure.

You can expect a small degree of swelling when treating the areas around the eyes, but this usually disappears within 3 or 4 days. Small circular carbon crusts form at each treatment point, which shed away after a few days but may take up to a week to completely clear. After care balms expedite healing and minimise infection risk. Once the skin has healed you will be left with more youthful, radiant skin.

The results of the Plasma treatment may be visible for years, clients should expect maintained results for up to 3-5 years because of its permanency repeat treatments are only required as the clients genetically ages.
